The unit plugs into your home telephone wall jack or enabled router.

Both of these dial pads are functionally similar with mute, volume control for both the speakers and mic.
The 3004 (the Red one) has computer keyboard style keys.

Why do I need the dial pad?

The dial pad IS a phone and can replace or be used with any existing corded office desk phone you might be using now. Using a headset with a dial pad for your work is comfortable, convenient and you only need to push a button to take or end a call. No HANDset lifting needed.
